Each year we deliver a range of training for students, university staff and early career staff across the third sector. This includes sessions in areas such as leadership, volunteer management, innovation, accessible communications, unconscious bias, and skills training.
The content on making training memorable and mixing sessions was very useful. The opportunities to present also made me really confident in my style and delivery and by the end I felt like I could deliver training straight away.

Student training
Student training has been at our core for over 15 years, as a key part of our mission to mainstream student social action. We deliver high quality, accessible sessions which can be embedded into your existing activities. Our training covers a wide range of topics including leadership, volunteer management, project management, public speaking, employability, and more.
This series has been valuable as it’s helped improve my confidence and understanding of campaigns. I definitely think this [training series] should keep being sponsored [by my university] because it teaches real life skills that we will come across often – even seeing campaigners in the street, or current strikes from lecturers or the trains – and it helps me understand from the perspective of the strikers even more so than before. It’s about equally valuable to learn these life skills as it is to learn the course content taught on my degree.

University Staff training
We deliver training for our peers in the Higher Education sector. Our partnerships with universities have given us expertise in collaborating with internal university departments, and engaging students effectively – learnings we love to share. Sessions targeted at university colleagues include how to design and run effective training, how to manage student volunteers and embedding student leadership into programme design.
We also have expertise in training early career staff with the skills they need to thrive in a professional environment..
Third Sector Training
As a charity which has supported graduates and new starters for a number of years through our Worthwhile programme, we understand the needs and challenges organisations can have in inducting new starters. A large part of our mission as an organisation is supporting ‘active citizens for life’, and that is what we look to create through our third sector training opportunities, whcih focus on upskilling your team and supporting them to thrive early on in their roles.
We have worked with partners such as Student Minds, School Space, Give a Grad a Go, and Mind of My Own to deliver a range of training opportunities.
I really enjoyed the course and feel it has equipped me with relevant skills moving forward. It was definitely a good use of my time and I have already recommended to another organisation! I feel the course really helped with my confidence in stakeholder management and all topics were covered in great depth. The chance to train alongside my colleagues was great – I feel group training with peers is really valuable to me. I would say [the Student Hubs trainers] are a very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional team who are great at training. They listen to the needs and goals of all trainees and help us to work towards shared goals in the sessions.
